What Is NDIS Car Cleaning?
NDIS car cleaning is a mobile car washing and detailing service available to eligible participants under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). For many NDIS participants, maintaining a clean and hygienic vehicle is an important part of daily living — yet physically cleaning a car can be difficult or impossible due to a participant’s disability or health condition.
At Schmicko, we provide NDIS-funded car cleaning in Sydney that helps participants maintain their vehicles to a safe and sanitary standard. Our service covers all the essentials: a thorough interior clean, seat shampoo, carpet cleaning, and a full exterior wash — delivered by a trained technician directly to your home, workplace, or any Sydney address.
Is Car Cleaning Covered by the NDIS?
Car cleaning can be funded under the NDIS as an Assistance with Daily Life support (Core Supports budget), provided the participant is unable to perform the task themselves due to their disability, and the need is directly related to their disability. NDIS car cleaning is considered an essential daily living support — not a luxury — when it enables a participant to maintain hygiene, independence, and access to their vehicle.
We recommend checking with your Support Coordinator or LAC (Local Area Coordinator) to confirm eligibility under your individual plan. Schmicko works with self-managed and plan-managed participants.

How It Works
Getting your vehicle professionally cleaned under NDIS is straightforward. Here’s what to expect.
Book through our website or call (02) 9158 6636. Let us know you’re an NDIS participant and your plan management type — we’ll confirm your booking and provide a quote.
Our trained technician arrives at your home or chosen Sydney location with all the equipment needed to complete the job. Please ensure there is access to power, water, and legal parking at the service address — these are required for every booking.
After the service, we issue an invoice compatible with your plan management type. We work with both self-managed and plan-managed participants. Please note we are currently unable to service NDIA-managed participants.
Before We Arrive
A little preparation goes a long way. Here’s what to have ready so we can get straight to work and make the most of your appointment.
A standard outdoor power point (or indoor with lead access) within reach of where your car is parked.
An outdoor tap or laundry tap we can connect a hose to. Please let us know in advance if access is restricted.
A driveway, designated bay, or legal on-street parking spot where we can work safely around the vehicle.
Please have the car unlocked and ready when we arrive. Remove any valuables or personal items beforehand.
Have your plan type (self-managed or plan-managed) and plan manager contact details ready at the time of booking.
We’ll call ahead before arriving. Please make sure a contact number where you or your carer can be reached is provided at booking.
How We Work With Your NDIS Plan
We’ve made the process as simple as possible. Whether you manage your own plan or work with a plan manager, we’ve got you covered.
If you self-manage your NDIS funds, working with us is simple. Book directly, receive your service, and we’ll issue a tax invoice you can submit to the NDIS portal yourself. No middleman, no delays — just a clean car and a clear invoice ready to go.
If you use a plan manager, we can work directly with them on your behalf. Share your plan manager’s details when you book and we’ll send the invoice straight to them for processing. You just sit back — we handle the paperwork end.
Unfortunately we are unable to service NDIA-managed (agency-managed) participants at this time, as this requires registration as an NDIS registered provider. If you are currently NDIA-managed and would like to use our service, you may wish to speak with your Support Coordinator about switching to plan-managed or self-managed, which gives you greater flexibility in choosing your own providers.

NDIS Car Cleaning Under Assistance With Daily Life
Under the NDIS, Assistance with Daily Life (Support Category 01) covers supports that help participants with tasks they cannot perform independently due to their disability. This includes household tasks such as cleaning, where the task directly relates to the participant’s disability-related needs. Vehicle cleaning can fall within this category when a participant relies on their car for daily living — for transport to appointments, work, therapy, or community access — and is unable to maintain it themselves.
